Felt or Cervelo?
I am looking for an entry level Tri-Bike. I believe the Felt S32 looks like the best deal at about $1200, although for $1300 I can get the Cervelo One. This is really about the max amount I can spend. I have read most of the reviews on both bikes and they everyone says good things about both bikes. They both look like great bikes and the best for the money. I have tried both and I can fit both. Does anyone have any recommendations on either of these or another bike in the $1100-$1300 range? Are these two bikes really close in value. I have seen the entry level Giant Tri Bike, even though I really like it, it seems to be priced a bit higher than these two bikes and these look as good or better than the Giant. Thanks for any input.

I'd look to get a 2004 Cervelo Dual at end-of-year pricing. Should be able to get LBS to meet your top range in order to prepare for the 2005 models to arrive. Lots of flexibility with the Dual. Check the review at Bikesportmichigan.com.

Wells, what size bike are you looking for? This is perfect time of the year to buy a leftover as most shops will be clearing bikes to get ready for new line of bikes. In your price range you ought to be able to find a Cervelo Dual, Felt S25, Cannondale Ironman 800 at your price range.

While Felts and Giants are super neato and pretty I say go with the Cervelo.

customerjon @gmail.com is where information happens.

Does the Cervelo still use drop bars? Might be a better choice for group riding and road folks that frown on Aerobar use.

The Felt has a better spec component-wise.

Both bikes would be great, finding a Dual for $1299 would be a coup!

Where are your local dealers with respect to you?

I live in Los Angeles and my dealer I go to is Universal Cycles. They are not a Tri Shop, but a very goof bike shop, none the less. They do sell Felt road bikes as well as Giant, Trek and Orbea. They do not stock any Tri bikes like Felt, etc. Did I see someone say that the Cervelo One will not be available in 2005? Anyway, I think at this time I will start looking around for closeouts for either Felts or Cervelos. I either need a 54 or 56 size. The Dual is an awesome bike. If I can a get a good deal that is what I would lean toward. Originally I thought it would be more like $1500-$1700 which would of been too high. I know Supergo sells Cervelo and Felt and they seem to always have blow outs at the end of the year so let's see. The info everyone posted has inspired my searching. Thanks

You said you can fit a Cervelo and a Felt, but didn't know whether a 54 or a 56 was your size. I think your first trip needs to be to a specialist on fit. A closeout Cervelo or Felt is great when you can score a great deal, but if you convince yourself you can use a product that is a great deal but is borderline on fit, you'll end up spending LOTS to get it right.

I wish I could help you better with a dealer, I know Nytro has a pretty good reputation for tri bikes and fitting. Shop alot, shop for a place that you want to give your hard earned cash to. You may even find a Cervelo dealer that would build you a 105 equipped Dual and fit your price range. I know of several Felt dealers in my area that are willing to do the swapping of components to make the price range fit.

Best of luck, and be certain you know exactly what you need when you pull the trigger.

Super Dave, You are right. I need to make sure that I have the right size first and that it fits me properly. I have made a couple of trips to Nytro while in the San Diego area. Very cool shop. Since my choice of bike is narrowed down to a couple I think that fit might determine the bike I choose. Whatever feels good to me and if it fits. I have test ridden the bikes, but has been a while. I am almost positive that I rode 56 Felt and it felt really good and fit me. Thanks for all of the excellent info you are providing. It is very helpful.

This place has nice deals on what you want. You can compare the shipping versus your local sales tax

That would be quite a drive. Keep in mind that Felt bikes need to be assembled by a Felt dealer. You cannot mail order them as it will void the warranty. Plus, your local guys will be less likely to do the little things come tune up time if you buy online.
