Any other STers heading to Double Ironman Virginia this year?

I'll miss IMC this year, first time in 6 years I won't be in Penticton... Anyone else gonna be at Lake Anna State Park for the sufferfest? I'm feeling just a little intimidated.

Just when you start to feel the slightest bit hardcore, there's a freakin tripple Ironman going on at the same time.... geez ;)

Hy FeFe,I have no doubt that you will be looked after and made to feel right at home once you get to the race site.Steve Kirby is a great guy and the Ultra people are very laid back and welcoming.

Can you belive that Steve is actually looking for a new race site 'cause his races are getting too popular?

BTW,don't know why you are worried, you are only doing the short course event.

Hahahahahaha.

I'm in for my first Virginia Double Anvil 281.2 in less than 30 days. Can't use Iron in the description since WTC came down on the whole organization. Not only is there a Triple this year there is also a Quintuple.

It ain't cheating if you're trying to win.

Quintuple!! That's ridiculous: 12 mile swim, 560 mile bike, 131 mile run. But I guess if you pace yourself right, it'll be just a training week with two century rides and three marathons thrown in.

Holy hell! That's nutz. Seriously... WTF! I estimate a "good" time to be what, like 5-6 hours swimming. About 35-40 hours on the bike. Then... well I don't know... maybe another 24 hours or so on the run. add a couple sleep periods and you have what 3 days to cover it?

Hell, thats not far form my monthly training totals for all but my peak month thsi season.

I did some planning for the 5x but decided against it this year. In terms of timing, it takes longer than you might think. You gotta sleep at some point :) The world record for the quintuple, which was set on a very flat fast course is 73:18. The Lake Anna course is much harder.

The original Deca takes some beating with a 14 day cut off ;)

38km - 1800km - 422km

Cycling & Running paved 1 km circuit at the “Parque España. Closed to traffic, completely illuminated, 95% flat, 5% slight slope or hill.

Or you can try the 'updated' format of one a day for 10 days, and now even one a day for 20 days..........
3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running per day for 20 days, 20 ULTRA TRIATHLON in 20 days, one each day
