Hey, I changed last year from a 2011 Seduza to a P3 because
A/ the Seduza was slightly to small and felt unstable
B/ going to Kona and the most lovely Mrs Avago said, NEW BIKE time, so a Di2 P3 it was. It was more comfortable, more stable, but I was no faster.

Make the change because of a whole range of possible reason, like, I want to, I can, I'm due a new bike, I want 11 sp, the colour is good....
but don't for a minute expect the thou$ands you spend will reap you any significant time benefit.

Think this all depends on the rider.
And their training.

Why can't you train and buy expensive equipment? Maybe you should find a job where you can make money AND train.

Yes, it definitely will make a difference. Whether or not the difference is significant enough to matter to you depends on your priorities.

Because a 4 year old bike is not an 88 tercel that needs to be replaced pronto.

If the bike has problems or has been dumped. Sure. That's a reason to upgrade / replace. I just happen to live by a mentality where I'd rather shave a pound of fat off my own ass before I buy a bike a few grams lighter for a bank roll. But they say fools and money.

I didn't tell you what my times or what I ride. But I'm sure there is a humble brag brewing here so I'll let you have the last word while I head to sleep.

Are you really talking about weight? Seriously?

OP can decide if he's in the financial position to buy a nice, new bike, but the reality is it's not "ALL" about the biker. If he has the disposable income to upgrade, it's likely something that makes him faster.

If you have a great position on the Seduza and can't easily replicate it on the new P2, it might not be any faster. Reckon the 2015 P2 has taller geometry than that QR.

So far my bike times on my newer P2 seem to be no different than the times on my old round tubed bike.

But even if this stays true, who cares. Am having fun building up something new, and so glad I bought it used so my wallet has a little money left. :)

the OP asked about improvements from a Seduza to a P2.... my response as one who has experience in this exact change over, was no great improvement, but if you want to, why not..
and then a whole bunch of you start pissing in about, why, train more, do ya wanna race, lose weight, good on you for getting used... sheesh....
H2O, enjoy your bike build up, it sounds like a great project.... btw, neither P3 nor Seuza made me any faster than when I rode a steel tubed roadie with aero bar... but I was 10 years younger then, and 10 kg lighter too :-)

As has been said before, it depends on your fit. If the P2 is a much higher stack frame than the QR. If you are really low on the QR, you might not be able to get the right position on the P2. And you end up, god forbid after spending the money, slower.

Bike companies do not need us to sell their bikes for them.

If you are looking for advancements in speed and power it comes form the engine.
Unfortunately in this sport - we are the engine.

I also bought new and do not believe that it is the right choice if someone is looking for gains.

The mentality of buying speed is bred in the cesspool of our culture of quick fixes and instant gratification.
By all means your wallet is yours.

Though when the day is done and you are having your post race beverages.
Do you wish you put that money towards a coach or something that could have made YOU a better athlete.
Or a "thing" that you thought would help you cut corners.

Were all athletes on here in some way shape or form.
Should I lie and tell them training isn't as important as it truly is and to spend til they are fast?

I imagine we will both be steadfast on this in our respective corners.

I'm guessing that with the same position you will be +/- 60 seconds per 40k depending on how it is outfitted. Maybe Jack Mott will chime in and make a SWAG.
