Hmmm. I'm using Firefox on an WinXP SP2 system and I am able to see all the embedded pictures. I have to use IE to post pictures, though.

try this:

Tools-Options-Web Features: make sure the check box "for the originating website only" is unchecked

I dont get it - sure Microsoft is the evil empire...but why is it that people will use products that make life difficult rather than just use IE? I have NO pop-up problems at all, no issues with worms or virus...I dont get it. Dont surf porn and you dont get popups.

One reason: Tabbed Browsing. I can have three, four, five or more websites open in one window. It keeps the desktop clutter to a minimum, especially when I have 12-15 work related windows already open.

wrong. I have the google pop up blocker. use bullguard virus scan and ad avare. when I surf with IE I get pop ups. It's either to refinance my home (which I don't have), to loose weight (which I don't need to loose), or to find a special someone (which I alreday have).

That's the reason I prefer not to use IE anymore. Plus I think it's less difficult to get viruses compared to when using IE.

Because IE is a stinking piece of crap, that's why.

"Dont surf porn"
Dude, what the hell is the point of the Internet if you don't use it to surf porn?

I use Firefox. Tabbed browsing is the big seller for me as well. I can see the pictures fine. No, you can't post pics with it, but that is my only complaint. And very minor. Thunderbird is nice too for email if you aren't wedded to Outlook for it's planning capabilities.

Theswiss, do you have the 1.0PR version installed? If you have a beta/gamma release try updating.

I refrain from IE and use Opera 7.6 because of the mouse gesture features.

Firefox has an extension for mouse gestures.

Why do I use it? It is faster, more versatile, and almost NONE of the browser hijacks, exploits, trojans, and other vulnerabilities nasty things that malovelent folks do to people using IE are risks with Firefox. Almost none!

Firefox rules. The only time I'll use another browser is when certain websites aren't fully standards compliant so you NEED to use IE in order to do shit. There's this one website for instance, that has a kickass forum - but you can't use the "advanced editor" features in a non-IE browser. So if I were for instance, wanting to post pictures in a hottie thread, I'd need to use IE. Otherwise it's Firefox all the way.

I'll have to admit, IE can be a swiss army knife. Its ability to render practically any file, the seamless integration with Office tools and it's an FTP client as well. On the other hand, it's so retarded with some things. For example, it doesn't support transparent PNGs. Why? Why, when PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc. do support the transparancy in PNGs.

Tabs are wonderful in Safari and Firefox, but Safari is missing some javascript capabilities and Firefox isn't honoring some table widths (expressed as a percent) in my web pages.

Two reasons:

.js and Active X

Not sure if SP2 fixed the weakness, maybe it did. By default I think all Active X should be disabled in IE.

Yes, I have been hacked with Spyware - bad. I could not get it out of my registry, was terrible. I now use various browsers, and only IE with pages I know, otherwise it's Firefox.

I also gave up on Outlook on some accounts (use web based products, not OWA). Also use Google pop up blocker toolbar 2.

But I love developing MS apps (using Visual Studio .NET, SQL 2k, ADO .NET, ASP .NET, IIS 6, DotNetNuke portal on .NET platform, VB .NET/c#, Sharepoint 2, Etc.)
