Disc Wheel Integrity
I just noticed a small pin sized hole in my HED disc wheel. I do not think a hole like this would cause integrity issues given there is a huge hole near the valve but just wanted to check in with my more experience Slowtwitch friends to get their opinion. Would you fill with a glue?

TIA

Personally, I wouldn't worry about it at all. I would probably just put a sticker over it much like I do over the valve opening. There are some really knowledgeable folks here that can speak to the integrity issue so I won't even try to go there :)

I believe that's there on purpose to drain water if it gets in the wheel.

^^^^^^This.

All my HED wheels have this. Back in the 90's (pre drainage hole) if water got into the "V" section of the wheel on a wet ride you had to remove the tire to get it out.

Covering that hole would defeat its purpose.

Ah, exactly. I thought about that after I posted. I thought it was damage to the wheel rather than the specific drain hole. Nice catch!

May be an air bleed hole when setting up tubeless so I wouldn't put anything over it

No, it’s to drain water.

When I said, “I believe…” I was being nice. It’s a drainage hole.

There are two reasons - on non-discs it’s used to drain any small amount of water that might get inside.

On old style designed or solid core discs it’s to prevent blow-out if a tubless valve is not seated properly. Other wheels have spoke holes to let the air escape but a disc that gets hit with a blast of air that does not go into the tire because of bad valve seating will go inside the disc which will blow out a side.
