Thanks for that! I came through with flying colors, setting a Personal Worst time on that course by about 5 minutes. Someone owes me a lot of beer.

I was still 2nd in my AG so I've heard, which is just a sad comment on the quality of racing in AZ in the M35-39ag imo.

Well I was DNS, on my books that still beats PW time! That means you owe me the beer, I will have to collect when I am down in Tucson next. Lets see, drink beer, drink another beer, install new aerobars, admire, drink more beer, adjust, more beer. By the time we are done they will most likely be facing backwards!

Kevin

p.s. just tried Alaskan Winter Ale, brewed with spruce tips, very tasty...........

well don't bother with the Guiness 250th anniversary beer, a little to not sure if vanillay is a word but too unstout for my tastes.

aerobars point forward, I'll write a note now to be safe.

Now I'm almost sorry I wasn't there to bring the average down even more. :)

This race was a lot more fun now that I'm home and have had a hot shower. After seeing some serious road rash on one of the college dudes, I'm really glad I took the big turn like a grandma.

Ditto! My tire hit the white line at one point and I felt it slide, after that I was riding like Grandma too!
I left right after the race, but was surprised to see that I took 2nd female, 1st in my AG :)
Results are up at: http://results.active.com/....jsp?eventID=1827222
I have a laundry room full of muddy clothes but I have to say it was a blast! Cant wait to do that course in nicer weather.

Thanks for posting the link to the results. Apparently I was looking at the wrong clock at the finish line. Finished in 1:45:26, 47th overall 6th AG (M25-29). My goal was 1:45 so I'm pretty happy with the time.

Can't wait to do this race again in (hopefully) nicer weather.

I was a DNS , too. I woke up at 5:00am in the hotel, looked outside, saw wind, rain and temps in the low 40s's. It was VERY easy to go back to sleep. it was still raining at 8am when I woke up. I've been raicng for WAY too long to have to race in weather like that. Besides, I ain't taking my new bike out in that weather : )

I ended up at Casino Arizona and won my race entry fee back at the poker table : )

Yeah, that was one of my teammates from NAU. He wiped out on the left hand turn going onto Fountain Hils Blvd. The good news is his bike appears to be okay haha. I took that turn super slow too, especially because I was borrowing a Zipp disk and a Hed3c front.

We camped out at the race site the night before. The second run course actually went right by our tents. The rain started around 10pm pouring on and off, then from 1am until after the finish it didn't let up. I felt more like I got an okay nap instead of a decent night's sleep. I went with just arm warmers and a standard tri suit and regretted it the whole second half of the bike and most of the second run. Had a hell of a time unsnapping my helmet with my practically paralyzed hands, plus I jammed the tongue of my shoe all the way to the front of the toe box in T2 haha. Said screw it since my feet were numb anyway. The mud was fun though! Reminded me of high school cross country in Ohio. I ended up 1:36:20. Not a course PR, but a bike split PR for that race. Unfortunately our second guy got a flat, otherwise I think we would have given UofA a run for their money! Our guys most likely would have been 1, 2, and 5 in the collegiate wave.

I have to figure out what all of you look like for when I see you at the races!

Josh

You bastard. I walked through the transition area 2x in the rain and cold, uphill both ways looking for your bike. I wanted to fondle it ;-).

It was much easier to spectate when I was watching all the sodden hypothermic finishers shivering around the finish line. I was also watching out for you and your bike, quite a few tall guys in 2XU skinsuits and arm warmers, no 596's to be seen.
Will have to catch up at another race.

My son and I camped across the way from you in the grey truck. When it started raining at 11 pm it woke me up and I never really slept the rest of the way. Then the camper shell started leaking on my head and feet. The funniest moment came when my son said "You should have jumped up here with me. I was comfy and warm." Then he spent the next two hours telling me I need to go put my bike in transition. "Dad, we came all this way. You need to go do the race."
I finally did at 7:15, but my enthusiasm was low.
I couldn't get my helmet off either and decided that I didn't want to pull on my dry shoes since they are not as easy to put on as my first-run shoes, so I ran in my soaked run-1 shoes (which have the tongue cut out).
Not a pr for me either, but a solid race.

Sorry guys. I hadn't done a race in the rain for over 10 years, and at the age of 54, I ain't starting now : ) The last race I did in the rain was 1998 Florida Challenge 1/2 IM. Rained nearly all day !
