DA 9 Sp shifters w/ 10 sp derail/chain
I know this was discussed eariler in the year but what is the final word on using DA 9 sp bar ends with DA 10 sp derail/cassete/chain. If it does work in the friction setting how do you change from index to friction. For that matter should I just buy the 10 speed bar ends. I am trying to save a few bucks BTW

Thanks!

I changed the cassette, chain and shifter and everything has worked fine.

the 10 sp derailleur is actially a 9/10, I use it, so it works fine with a 9 sp system and 9 sp shifters

Different problem, the 10 speed derail works fine now with my 9 spd set up. I want to make it a 10 speed, I know I have to get the new cassette (duh) and a chain, I was hoping not to have to buy 10- spd bar end shifters and just use my 9 speeds!

If you want optimal Shimano-recommended performance, you will need to get 10-speed shifters to get your 10-speed derailleur to shift perfectly on your 10-speed cassette. (As posted earlier, 9-speed shifters will work also, but that would be for a 9-speed cassette, NOT a 10-speed cassette).

Does that help?
