Considering moving from Blue Triad SL to Canyon - benefits??
I'm considering moving from my 4-year old Blue Triad SL to a Canyon Speedmax 8.0 Ltd. I currently have SRAM Red on the Blue with a Power2Max crank. The Canyon has Ultegra Di2. In terms of aero gains (if any) between these frames, anyone want to ballpark it?? I'd either transfer over the current power meter or get a new one - depends on sale of current bike if I go that route.

Here is a pic of the current setup, and there are a few pictures in my blog (below) of me on the bike.

I could also try to do a bit on the current bike in terms of higher extensions (51 speedshop or TriRig) instead of jumping to the Canyon. I know that 'fit first' is probably the best way forward, but I get a discount on Canyon through my tri team, so that's probably the direction I'd go.

Sorry for the slightly off topic question but what degree tilt do you have on your dash? Seems like your would fall off easily.

Im struggling with the angle of the photo but it appears your saddle is strongly tilted nose down. You also appear to have the saddle far back on the rails and are using the further set back of the post positions. This is an unusual combination of things and suggests either you are a physiologically outlier, that bike frame isn't suited for you, that's the wrong saddle for you or a mixture of the three. Before I bought a new frame I would try and sort out where the issue falls to make sure you get the correct size.

I would guess you have short legs and long torso based on the total arrangement so you want a bike which is longer but lower than the Blue. You may not even need the extra length but Its hard to tell what the stem length is on the current bike.

i have Blue bike only testing and canyon bike only testing files somewhere. I can't remember who had the Blue though & way too lazy to go sift through 100's of testing folders

Does it still count as a first world problem if only 10-20 folks in the world have it? ;)

the triad looks like a more accurate aerodynamic design than the canyon, that hasn't a front wheel cut out and a "hidden" rear brake; much will depend also on how you will keep hidden hydratation and food storage, I believe. if you're fine with the triad fit and handling I would hesitate to ditch it; raher I'd think about upgrading to electronic shifting

The saddle is angled down quite a bit, but that's the position I got to after 3-4 months of slowly adjusting the Dash saddle when I got it. I initially began around horizontal, but over time found this position to be most comfortable for me. I don't feel at all like I'm 'falling off' the saddle when I ride. I'm pretty close to the front of the saddle when in my TT position.

The integrated front fork and hidden rear brake are definitely things I like on the Blue. I wish the Speedmax had a hidden rear brake. If I went with the Speedmax I was considering getting the TriRig Alpha X bars and extensions. Maybe just getting better extensions to get the arms up coupled with electronic shifting may be the better choice since I am very comfortable on the Blue as is.

I do have someone who may come this weekend to look at the bike, as it's for sale. I guess it's somewhat dependent on if he likes the bike.
