Condensed Philosophy Thread

Here is a list of what some of your fellow athletes feel is a condensed version of their philosophy.

For training:

"Be physically ready for each days training, no more, no less. Hard days should be hard, easy days should be needed."

For Life:

"If you cant prove yourself wrong, you can have the confidence that you are doing the best with your abilities."

Work like you don't need the money

Love like you've never been hurt

Train like Tibbs is chasing you

The details of your training are secondary to believing in it and dedicating yourself to it day in and day out.

"Body is Evil and Must be Punished"...it's actually a Hamish Carter quote that I live by!

Go really hard on your hard days and really easy on your easy days.

"GO", Frequent, Long. For ADVENTURE, to crest a hill and PUNCH IT, or cruise control and roll. FOR PURE TRAINING ECSTASY.

Swim. Bike. Run. Repeat.

"Strive for your goals and acheivements... Push until it hurts! Analyze workout results and reflect, which motivates for tomorrow's new endeavors."

Life is simple

Triathlon

Swim Bike Run Eat Sleep

All things excellent are as difficult as they are rare.

It's not about the finish line. It's about the 5000 miles between this moment, and that moment.

It's not how fast you are, it's how fast you look.

Swim Bike Run harder

To reach the end is so clear

How to get there, not

Fitness training for triathletes offers a well rounded routine that is beyond compare. Swim long, Bike long, Run long - forever.

'pain is freedom'

"The more you sweat in practice the less you bleed in battle"

The Trinity

Stillness: Medium of Infinity

Sol: Source of Will

Gaia: Well of Intuition

Phi: Weaving the Trinity into Energetic Expression!

"Anyone can work hard when they want to; Champions do it when they don't."

What hurts me now makes me grow and is gone tomorrow.

TRIATHLON
cheaper than bypass

"Swim like you are not tired, ride your bike like you did not swim and run like there is no tomorrow!"

"To train, for me, is a part of the thing itself. From now until I cross the line, I am racing."

"Slice through the wind, pierce the waves, pound the winding trail—body and soul channel Earth’s energy and find true living!"

"Pain is weakness leaving your body"

"No matter how much it hurts now, my body will thank me later."

Quality breakthrough workouts balanced by optimal nutrition and recovery. Progressive overload for adapting fitness. Plenty of fun to keep coming back.

Eat Right, Sleep Right. Train like Hell.

Focus on your swim. Focus on your bike. Focus on your run. Focus on your nutrition. Don't care what others say.

Swim Bike Run Repeat

Goals burn hot,
Train close to the fire.
Every session has purpose,
Be patience, focused.
Race with a plan,
Realize dreams. (The $152.99 philosophy. That's 122.99 for the FR201, and 30.00 for the USB -> Serial adapter. I really dig this one, I think the opening two lines are something I can easily memorize and reflect on while doing a workout. SMK, be sure to upload your workouts to motionbased.com so we can all make sure you are using your new toy.)

PASSION: Loving your sport, dreaming big dreams. PERSISTANCE: Having courage and tenacity to achieve those dreams. PATIENCE: Knowing success will come.

Below are the entries via letsrun.com

Summer – Rest, build base
Fall – Train and race overdistance; lose
Winter – Train and race underdistance; lose
Spring – Race goal distance; WIN

Train hard but train smart.

Run a lot, then practice within 90 secs of your mile PR

If you run for fun and run for yourself, results will follow.

Go wherever your feet, lungs and heart can take you. Use the Garmin Forerunner 201 to get you back! (these entries were part of a contest to win a GF201)

Run. Run more. Run even more.

Now run faster. Now even faster.

You're ready.

Always enjoy your running.

run hard on hard days
run easy on easy days
and on race day check your nuts and go fast

Eat only what you can run off in the same day and slap lazy Atkins people on their big asses.

- Commitment to your goal
- Consistent training
- Focus your mind
- Understand your body

Run often.
Run long.
Run up and down.
Run joyfully.

nobody gives out medals for training logs

The tranquility of the terrain mapped out

If you think you've got your training down to a science, you havn't been paying attention.

I used to be ecstatic over PRs ... now I'm thrilled just to make it out the door in the morning.

Prepare.
Run more.
Run more hills.
Run faster more often.
Listen to your body; respond.
Treat recovery seriously.
Race all out.

Pick a race distance
Train faster
Train longer
Race often
Rest when fatigued
It's that simple.

Start Running. Easy at First. Add Variety. Run More. Run Faster.
Start with General Fitness. Proceed to Specificity. Maintain Overall fitness.

Progress the desire within mind and soul. Then establish the bridge in which to expand this ambition through the entire body.

"The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win" Roger Bannister

Ride it like you stole it.

The miles aren't going to do themselves.

I've never been beaten by the guy behind me.

If the hill has its own name, then it's probably a pretty tough hill.

I can't remember who uses this as a signature, but it goes something like: Your AG winner is out training today, are you?

That's my favorite.

Amy, That's the one that has kept me consistently training over the last few weeks. I love it.
