Climbing simulation on the trainer
Has anyone used either the Train Right Climbing DVD or the Spinervals Uphill Grind DVD? Are either/both of them useful at simulating climbing?

Thanks.

Uphill Grind works the muscles you use when climbing pretty well. The video is around 45 minutes. Take out the warmup and cooldown and you really only get one good set of about 25 minutes. Its excellent hill training, just not enough of it. Its also one of my favorite Spinervals because I can get a good workout in 45 minutes. The slow, hard grinding does take a toll on your tire while in the trainer. You can smell rubber burning if you are hitting it hard.

I assume you asked that question because you don't live in a hilly area, but there is no better hill training than actually riding on the hills. You not only need to train to climb the hills, you need to learn to descend them. Good luck w/ your training.

Thanks. It's pretty flat around here - I hope to get a little real hill training in, but I think I might have to simulate most of it.
