Interesting.
I was hoping they might be a bit less expensive with their first frame to see how the market took to them. Considering my aluminum Team Soloist was about 1/2 that price for frame alone, I was wishful thinking.

Specs here http://www.opencycle.com/hardtail-O-1.0.aspx

Looks very slick but I am sure it is pricey. They don't list a price and "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" :)

$2700 for frame, $3400 for frame and crank
Then they have a $6500 package and a $12000 package

How light is the frame? I didn't see a weight at a quick glance.

They are paying serious homage to the carbon cannondale flash 29er here, same concept almost same shape.

Looks like only a slightly nicer version of my chinese carbon 29er frame which I picked up for $500...I'm not really seeing anything mind blowing.

A top of the line full suspension frame with shock can be had for that price like the Niner Jet9 RDO, and how much R&D has that frame got in it.

Plus the conventional wisdom for most MTB and Xterra courses (excepting very smooth and non-technical ones) is that a good efficient suspension is more important than weight. It is similar to the way that aero trumps weight in tri bikes. Hardtails are kind of old school. You see very few of them at Xterra races, and the people who are sponsored and can ride whatever they want are almost always on dual suspension 29er bikes.

For the amount of money they want you can buy a mountain bike that will be demonstrably faster on all but the smoothest uphill courses.
