Cervelo classic P2C can't fit a compact cranks
Quote | Reply
I'm trying to install a shimano 105 11 speed 5800 groupset with a compact chainset (50-34) on my Cervelo P2C.

The braise on mount doesn't let me put the derailleur low enough to fit the chainset without rub.

Went to 2 lbs and they both said the frame wont work with a compact.

Confused as dcrainmaker seemed to have managed this on the same frame.

So Questions:

1: is this a known issue?
2: is there a solution to make this work?

Looks like you need an FSA FD

Known issue on the earlier frames and rectified on the later ones.

Yep, it's a known issue. When I had one (2008 P2C) I used a SRAM Force FD, the one that had two holes for compact and standard rings so you could adjust the height. Also the some older Ultegra FDs worked well. Should have no issues with 52/36 rings but for 50/34 you the Force FD should work.

My P2C is from 2009 and I have been riding a compact since shortly after I bought it. It's the dura-ace derailleur it came with and a Rotor 3D crank (shimano BB).

Sugino makes an adapter that allows you to mount the front derailleur lower
