Isn't that Damon Rinard giving the fireman's carry to the "Zabriskie dummy" in that pic?

It saddens me that Cervelo would give the first exclusive peak (though we've all seen the bike) and test ride to a publication that has to tell it's readers to google Paris-Roubaix.

John Bradley (the writer) worked for Outside and I think Bicycling Magazine too. Granted, those are about the most vanilla and least informative sports lifestyle pubs but it explains why he got the peek.

I just want to see some numbers. Mainly drag and price. 6-7k for the frameset is my guess.

Here are my questions:
1. How do we integrate this design for the customer in the product mix with the airfoil shaped bikes (P2, P3, P4)?
2. Does this validate previous/current design claims about truncated airfoils?
3. What is its performance across a broad range of wind yaw angles?
4. Is the Primary benefit frame stiffness or aerodynamics?
5. From a marketing/sales perspective- does this bike bridge the gap between the ride/stiffness category "R" series bikes and the aero-performance "S" series bikes?
6. Will this design theme migrate into future "P" series bikes?
7. Who's the customer?
I'm excited about learning those things...

I would imagine that the monster headtube would add some front end stiffness to the rig, but does anyone know anything about the fork?
I've had both poor and great forks with similar rake, and how they affect a ride can be quite transparent. For instance, I think the funda is awesome on a tri bike, but I prefer a less aero edge (now enve) for my roadie.
To me BB stifness is all about feel and is very subjective, but good front end stifness= faster and more comfortable turns at speed.
That said, this bike is obviously being marketed as a missile. Aerodynamics is going to be it's primary selling point.

Already some pics from the Norwegian National Championships last weekend.
This is basically the S5, right?

The one DZ is holding in his hand is painted up as an S5. So I am guessing it is the new top of the line "S" series bike, not some attempt to bridge between the "R" series and the "S" series.

Why?
Sounds perfect to me. Cervelo have been true innovators since their inception with a focus on developing new technology for bikes and Wired is a magazine that is focused on how new and developing technology affects culture and the economy!

The other way to look at it would be that this does not affect the coverage this bike and therefore cycling gets in the cycling magazines, but it will increase the coverage for cycling in a non-cycling magazine. So in total, it means more exposure for our sport (if it wasn't the S5 in Wired, they would have highlighted some Wifi toaster or Facebook enabled running shoe, not another bike)
