Can’t run for last two taper weeks - bike more?

So, I’ve had a great training block headed into IMLP in less than two weeks. Over the weekend my left peroneal tendon acted up - not during any workout, which is the weird thing. Was sore Sat afternoon then during first part of Sun long run, so bailed on run.

Anyway, went to see my sports podiatrist (2x Kona, Leadville finisher), and he thought it would resolve before the race with treatment, but advised no running. Did one round of EPAT and will do one more on Mon of next week. Plan is to do some water running, but would it be a good idea to do a bit more biking this week to compensate for missing around 4 hrs of running? I’m still feeling good about the race, but haven’t been in this situation before.

3 hours of aquajogging, and maybe one more swim instead (hell, you'll be at the pool anyways).

I would keep the biking where it's at. You'll reap 80% of the fitness benefit with the aquajogs, and then the bonus swim is just good to stay fresh (and impacts bike/run fitness).

I couldn’t run for 3 months, used the elliptical and still had a very good race for me

Did you do no runs before the race? What was your time on the marathon compared to previous times?

It was just a 10 k in a triathlon. Time was almost identical to the previous year with less training.

I think there is a pro who used elliptical before an Ironman and did very well.

I like the elliptical idea. I've done that in the past when I had an ITB issue. I'm in Acadia in Maine for the next few days, but can probably find an elliptical to use. Got in a swim this morning and may try some water running this afternoon.

I was in a similar position last year before a full, but i just added another swim and then enjoyed the rest. Had some gi issues during the race, but without that my marathon was about 20 min off from my open.
