I am looking at buying a tri specific bike. For long term compatibility I would prefer to go with a disc equipped bike but so far manufacturers are slow to change over. I don't want to hear pros and cons of disc versus rim braking, just what people would consider best in the limited disc brake options in this price point. In the more budget friendly category the Argon E117 disc looks OK but there is not a lot out there on this bike. Looking to hear if anyone has one and what they think of it. What else did they look at? For 2.5k more you can get the E118 disc. If I built up a bike from a frame would the E118 be significantly faster than the E117, assuming the same kit out? Over full IM distance would you get 5min, 10 min in comparison?

105 groupset with microshift and FSA cranks for $3100 is a deal these days? Hard to believe.
I would say P series or E117. Also 105/microshift but they're nicer bikes, imo. Especially the P series

Rim brakes are faster.
I am hoping to have some TriRig brakes soon.

No data comparing mortal disc to super disc, but I'd expect that difference to have narrowed compared to the rim brake data (because super rim brake bikes had hidden calipers but now everything is the same)
Wait a few more weeks and you will have more options.
For now - E-117, PRFour and P-Series are all very good frames. You're not going to get anything showing up that offers a significant performance advantage.

Your question made me sign up for this forum!
I am pretend-shopping for several months now, looking also for a disc-brake TT bike. I am 42, re-started cycling 4 years ago on a GT Grade that I used and abused in heavy Gravel, Ultra-distance, Bikepacking, Training on Rollers and => doing fast laps on the local training spot. I love riding fast, but on the GT Grade, with its 32mm tires and added extension bars its a bit ridiculous. My hour record is around 39,2 km/h (with mudguards), I'd love to push this further on a proper TT bike.
So, on my watchlist are:
My bank account is facing some challenges until end of the year, except a windfall I'll continue to window-shop and keep an eye on the used marked (in France it's all on troc-velo: https://www.troc-velo.com/...athlon-CLM-10840.htm )

- Cervelo P-Series: 2700 EUR, I would love to have the new turquoise color of 2021 though: https://www.deporvillage.fr/velo-triathlon-cervelo-p-series-disc-shimano-105-noir-blanc
- Felt IA Advanced: it was around 3200 EUR lately, now a bit more expensive. I really like the look but am afraid it won't fit for my TT goals
- Cannondale Superslice 2019: very aggresive geometry, 3100 EUR: https://www.biker-boarder.de/...962112-20-35_pa.html
- BH AEROLIGHT DISC 4.0 SHIMANO ULTÉGRA DI2 11V:4200 EUR https://stockovelo.fr/...ltegra-di2-11v-2020/
