Bike position feedback
I managed to sneak in a race at the very end of the season here in New England. Swim was garbage, bike wasn't what I hoped for, and run was crap, but overall a fun day. I've had a bike focus this year after I knew the races I signed up for weren't going to happen. The race I did included free pics, and this is a decent one from the side. It was a very cold morning - around 40 degrees for the start of the bike, so gloves and arm warmers were on. I feel my head should be tucked a bit more and my arms a bit higher up on the extensions, closing that gap. Other thoughts?

It almost looks like if you raise arm pads and extensions by an inch then your torso will be flat versus pointing downhill and you will have a tighter shrug and more of a closed gap between hands and head and your exposure to the wind will be less. From what I recall, there are limited gains once your torso is flat because the highest point in your back still determines the size of the hole in the wind. So if your torso is pointing downwards, you're maybe not gaining much, but you may have a bigger opening from head to hand to get to your lower bars. You may also open up hip angle in doing so, which may help your transition to the run.

Congrats on your race. Must have been nice to do an organized event!

I don’t know why people don’t put socks on, so much more comfortable the entire race

I definitely did! I also had neoprene toe covers over the shoes. As I said, it was around 40 degrees at the start of the bike. Trying to run with completely numb feet is not a fun experience.

I generally go sockless in most races - except when it is cold.

Dev - thanks for the tips. I may adjust the armpads up a bit. I've gotten quite comfortable in this position over the past several months, but closing that area between head and arms probably makes sense.
