Bike gurus - Bottom Bracket help
I'm upgrading my road bike & want to get new 105 cranks (it was really entry level...). How do I know what size bottom bracket to get? These are the choices:

"For 105 splined cranks. Sealed cartridge, tubular splined and without crank bolts. 247g. Specify Model: 68x109.5, 70x109.5, 68x118.5, and 70x118.5"

Can someone translate that for me?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Kathy

Is the bike threaded English or Eye-talion? Most bikes these days are English. 68x109.5 is the English double. 70x109.5 is the Eye-talion.

Are you doing the work yourself, or having a shop do it?

If you're doing it yourself, easiest way is just to take out the bottom bracket currently on and seeing how much info is written on it, could be all the info is on it right there.

I'm doing it myself with the aid of a friend as a learning experience. I considered doing that, but figured I'd ask the experts here first!

Unless your bike was made in Italy, you probably have an English thread BB. It is really easy to install with the correct tools, just remember that the right-side cup is reverse threaded on English BBs and normal thread for Italian.
