Anywhere to swim in NYC?
Wondering if there are any clubs with pools that don't have outrageous guest fees in Manhattan. Going to be there for much of this week working. If it matters, I'm staying/working in midtown.

thanks for any suggestions/pointers

If you go to Chelsea Piers (20 street at the Hudson river) is the real deal. If you say you are interested in joining the gym but want to try it out for a week, then they will give you a weekly pass. Otherwise, they charge 50 bucks a day for entry to non-members.

"Outrageous" by Manhattan standards? Or by midwest standards?

Riverbank state park has a 50 m pool at 137-145 Riverside (take the 1 to either station). $2/session.

There's a bunch of city pools. $75/year, not sure if there's a day pass. http://nycgovparks.org/...pools.html#manhattan

One day passes to gyms like nysc or asphalt green http://www.asphaltgreen.org/ will be a bit spendy.

Thanks, all. Appreciate the responses. Doug, thanks for the kind offer. Hopefully you won't mind if I actually take you up on it (workload permitting)!

I swam in the Hudson once... it was not an option, I was 11 and the boat capsized.

I prefer chlorine, even though that can kill you too.

there are no guest/weekly/monthly passes. if you're *very* lucky, you could talk them into letting you swim for a day on a trial basis, but it's down to the front desk person. also, they only take payment by money order (at least, that's the situation w/ the one closest to me). i think membership gets you in at riverbank, too.

the YMCA has at least three 25 yard pools in the city, the 92nd st Y (different religious affiliation) also has one. so does the Manhattan JCC.

i know you're already hooked up, but info on the internet tends to get recycled...
