Anyone Riding the Kestrel 4000....
I am really curious about this bike and would like to hear what other peoples experiences have been.

What are it's stats...(weight, size)
What build group
What wheels
What handlebars

How does it ride? (stiff, smooth, flexible)
How does it handle in tight corners, on sharp rollers, steady climbs, flats etc.
Any fit issues?

Thanks

Hi, I ride a 4000 SRAM,

SRAM Red + Zipp Vulca Aerobar
with Zipp 808 wheels.

I was riding a Cervelo P2 before.

I just love the Kestrel, easier to handle, and no problem riding 5 hours in aero position.

I placed top bike split in several local races, from flat races with 180 turn, to rolling hills races.
I train in LP last week, 170k, I was able to keep the position, and maintain my power easily during all the ride.
I's reacting much better when I jump off the saddle than my old Cervelo.

I'would like the seat post a bit more forward, but they will provide a solution shortly.

More important: the service is excellent, and they are very responsive: I had a crash and killed the bike 2 weeks before an IronMan, they were able to send be a new bike so I get it for the race !

And it's great to have a bike nobody else have :)

What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

As long as people are pitching in:

1. Can you run a -17* stem on top of the brake cable hanger/headset top cap without spacers?
2. Whats the braking power like?

No idea...I had a "real" Kestral 4000 - not a Fuji (Martec) 4000

I knew what you meant, I was hoping those with the more current version would pitch in. I think Kestrel should have left the 4000 name rest, the originals were sweet but the new ones are seem quite unrelated.

Is that the first internal cable routing on a road frame? I never noticed that before.

No, there were many at the time that had internal on steel frames.

How much clearance do you have at the chain stays? I'm looking at running 2010 hed stinger 9s with it and I'm worried about rubbing the frame when out of the saddle. Would you measure their width and post it please. Thanks for your help.
