Vision used to make a thick pad that worked well, they are kind of hard to find. Another company out there that carries a assortment of pads is CeeGee's.

I never thought such a seemingly small piece of foam could make such an impact on comfort level. Go for the CeeGee's. Small price, BIG comfort compared to the OEM foam that comes with your bars.

You could go to REI and get a small pad of Blue Foam -- those 3.8 inch thick light blue pads. Very light, and a fairly firm pad that works GREAT for elbow pads. When I MADE my first set of arm pads (for the first generation Scott clip-on), I used standard 4" pipe cut in a quarter, pop rivets, lumber strap, pipe clamps, and blue foam glued to the pipe. Those things were great. Wish I still had them.

Within weeks of buying my HEDs, I replaced the pads with Profile (F-19 I think). They bolt right on and feel great.

The standard HED elbow supports are flimsy and you have to constantly work to keep from rolling out of them.

I used the old (1990) Profile pads. They fit right on the HED and are very comfortable.

If you can't get the ceegee's easily, the Profile replacement pads are quite good, with a velcro on/off which makes adjustments easy (just cut out holes for the allen bolts in the stiff side of the velcro that sticks to the arm rest base)

My syntace pads are really comfy and durable. Theya re a little thicker than most.

That is the most interesting aero bar setup I have ever seen. A straight bar on the left and and regular upturned bar on the right.

What lead you to that set up?

Although they don't look professional, I like my pieces of cut-up
pipe insulation. I glued some velcro on the underside and they
stay put on the armrests very nicely. I have tried two different
types of insulation (cheap light green stuff and more expensive
and softer black stuff), and both worked great. And it is easy
to find at just about any hardware store.

I was trying out the straight bar. I rode them this way for that day when the picture was taken. I put the original aerobars back on, straight is not for me.

Can you confirm that you are using the F19 pads? Did you use the whole assembly or just the pad and cup? Did this change pad height much?

F-19, just the pads and cups. Fit like they were made for the application.
