A frog's adventure in a TX Court
so got there...early at 12.15 (hearing at 12.45)...
at 12.46 I am thinking, darn, they are late...at 12.52 I think...they're really pushing...so I talk with a police officer to know when the judges will be around (6 courts).
He answers

-well, it starts at 1pm!
-Ah but I have my hearing at 12.45...
-Show me...hmmm...wrong building son...

Darn...I am 10' late already...rush to the other building and at the entry the police officer says, the judge is gone...I ask

-So what do I do now??
-Well, she issued a warrant for your arrest.
-What for 4mph on I10??!!

Lucky me...Judge sheryl is walking out and goes
-are you the hearing of 12.45?
-yes your honor
-ok come in...

get in...

-you know I already issued a warrant for your arrest
-yes, I'm sorry, I was waiting in the wrong building
-oh, you're my neighbor...hang on, I know you...I see you and your wife or girlfriend running and biking all the time...you guys are amazing!
Case dismissed. You have a good day!

No kidding.

Francois, you should have gone to jail for being 4mph over the limit, AND being late for court. :)

Could a guy named Francois possibly be a good ole boy?

But yeah, that's how we do it in the South. A few years ago, I drove to Rocky Mount NC for a meeting with some of the boys at Abbott Labs. I got directions from one of them, and he was a little surprised that I was driving all that way (from Baltimore) instead of flying. He asked if I liked to drive fast, and after I confirmed that he said that if I got stopped between the NC border and Rocky Mount I should just tell the officer that I know Ben (pronounced ("beeyuhn"). It turns out the boys father is the circuit court judge. We averaged about 100 mph driving through NC, and none of the troopers we saw even looked twice at us. It seems Ben just told them what we were driving and they all went on break when we came through.

Mate, that is absolutely priceless!

You know how they have those books about foreigners going to Provence or somewhere and writing up their experiences...you should do the same for El Paso.

Seriously bro - the seppos would lap up your tale about your adventures in their country. Good onya.
