A Day in Slowtwitchland
Slowtwitch is boring...always the same stuff over and over again...

talk swimming, biking, running

Then we wonder how to become faster bikers when everyone knows the answer:

Sometimes, Flomauer comes to talk about nutrition:

Of course, Smartasscoach comes and feels compelled to be a mean bastard:

Then Monk

asks for more pictures in the Hottie Thread:

All this under the supervision of the Master, aka Slowman...

Man, we need to do something about this! this world is so predictable!

you have a lot of time on your hands, mr. mathematician.

you don't believe or not believe in probabilities...it's just a set of axioms.

Two things for the mathematician:

In all probability, he'll be back with an axiom to grind on some subject.

Although the numbers to prove flying's safety is real, and just a fraction of the hazards of driving a car, on the whole we know his fear is irrational, but he hasn't be able to integerate it into his psyche.

Dude,

I appreciate France and the French for so much that they have given to western history and culture (including an "outrageous accent" that englishmen love to mock...) but I will never, EVER forgive the french for the Smurfs.

Hilarious. When my daughter was a child the Smurfs were her absolute favorite. I'll have to pass this thread on to her.

How is the fear of flying irrational? Do planes not crash?

I am fine with the Smurfs, I would like to get whoever created Barney.

Just how large is your Smurf Collection? Can you do a mass photo, like a curtain call.

You should...they were created by Peyo, who is from...Belgium.

As for AJHull...this is not my collection, May-Lise use to collect them as a kid and could never get rid of them....so this is just a few of her 400+ smurf collection.

Dammit! Just when I have the perfect put down, Belgium gets in the way and ruins everything (the only thing I have in common with Kaiser Wilhelm II). Was Peyo a Walloon? If he is I should get partial credit for him being a francophone.

When I was young I so wanted to blame France for french fries, too. Too bad for me that they're really Belgian frites. f***ing Belguim.

If you read Blink by Gladwell or Freakonomics by Levitt (I forget which- both good) they will burst your bubble about driving being safer b/c if you do the math of accidents per hour of operation, driving is safer.

Q: Whats the worst part of having a huge smurf collection?

A: Telling your parents that you are gay.

I know you're "married", but we now know it was just a ruse to get into the country.

Francois, seriously, owning a smurf collection is not something you should admit to. However it is quite hilarious.

we got married 'aux acquis' which means that we co-own only the stuff we got after getting married. Therefore, I am not responsible for the smurf collection ;-)

Besides, my parents would likely prefer me to be gay than having a collection of smurfs.

Anyway, it will go on ebay. hopefully someone with kids is interested...either that, or maybe I can sell it to michael Jackson

Damn that was funny photo. Although I couldn't admit to my coworkers here in cubicle hell I was laughing at a smurf photo...just told them it was a dirty joke. Don't want them to think I am some snorkle using gay Belgian.

Good friday post Francois! I am leaving early today to go wine tasting with some friends in the Russian River valley (pretty much right on the Vineman bike course) and will toast you with a nice Pinot Noir. I think you Frogs refer to it as Burgundy. Dude you need to get the hell out of El Paso...

That is the most amazing thing I have ever seen. I love the Smurfs.

My parents still have my "Smurfs All Star Show" cassette tape from childhood. That might round out the collection.

Holy shit, I'm starting to get jealous.

The phrase "In the land of blind men, the one eyed man is king" comes to mind when I see this photo-- or more correctly-- In the land of Smurfs, Francois is tall.

Suffer Well.
