55-59 age group for the men (@ Steelhead).....looks like 39 men started the race in that division. There are 100 Clearwater slots available total, and 2,100 registerd athletes. Although it looks like quite a few DNS, and few DNF's. So is it just simple math? 39 athletes = 2% of the race field......so they would get 2% of the qualifying spots? = 2 spots?
