Monday morning blues: i have now gained half a pound to a nice, even 204.

It gets better: I now believe the cross-check to the ribs I took in my hockey game two weeks ago cracked the rib. 15 days later, and rolling over in bed is painful, a sneeze is worse. I live in mortal fear of getting the hiccoughs.

I can't swim with this, and can't run more than a couple of miles before it hurts. This means the bike trainer and/or spin class only. This is going to suck.

And a happy Monday to the rest of you!! Hope you are off to a better start than I am.

:-( Paul

Sorry to hear about your injury. If we ever meet at an event, remind me to tell you about my sister & a cross-check.

I broke my back last December, so I can relate to your injury. Best wishes on a speedy (No pun intended) recovery.

Happy Holidays / New Year

Results of the Boxing Day weigh-in:

207.5 lbs, down 1/2 lb. Not much, but at least in the right direction.

BTW Speedy, you're doing great. What's your secret?

If I told you the "Secret" Kent might read the post & then it would be "Game Over"

The big difference was the support of my family.

My wife suggesting that a 3rd mince tart & more may not be in my best interest.

My wife for buying smaller dinner plates

Everyone for kicking me out of the house for a run when I really didn't want to, but was glad I did

The boys for letting me hook up my bike to the PS2 via the Cateye Gamebike, etc.

Parking in the furthest spot from the store, taking the stairs, etc.

Going the wrong way over this break.

The scale I have here in Florida seems to have some issues...has me at 208! That being said, when I flew down here, I weighed in that morning at 197 on my scale at home and by the time I got here (8pm that same night), the scale here had me at 206...didn't know that flying put 9lbs on you! So my guess is that I'm about 204-205...either way, going the wrong way and fast.

Congratulations to those who lost or at least held their own.

Christmas is a difficult time in terms of volume & caloric intake :-)

Day late.....

Christmas was good for me:)...184. Up one pound. So not bad for the lack of exercise and over eating I have done.

Jan 2nd should be(HOPEFULLY) a pound or 2 loss!

I hang my head in shame as one of the main reasons this thread exists
this week
193
gained a pound dammit. Didn't help that at every turn last night Speedy was trying to put something fattening where I could see it. I contend that the reason foro the increase is that my body knows it has to jump in freezing cold water in a few days and that this is its way of protecting itself. Not sure why I am still coughing like a harp seal if it's trying to protect itself but who am I to say.
I'll not stand idly by here Speedy...I made the commitment and it is coming off come hell or high water...you read it here and so shall it be.

If the truth be told, I was trying to shield you from the fattening food. Since you out weigh me by a fair bit, I had to yield.

Is it the New Years Day Polar Bear Dip that you were packing on the pounds for?

Wah! Wah! Wah! That's enough excuses Kent. Lets get to the grind. You're not going to actually blame Speedy for your lack of will power are you? :-) Touche!

Alright, I have to acknowledge the facts. I started up training again this month after the Philly marathon on Nov 20. In the two weeks after the race, I gained about 4 lbs, which was acceptible. But, even after I started training, I have continued to gain, another 3 lbs. I need to join the group.

The specifics:

Currently plateau'd at 147 lbs since last Thursday.

Estimated body fat ~ 17.5 % (25.7 lbs - uugghh!)

5' 3 3/4" male, 51 yrs old

April 15 weight goal = 135 lbs

Ultimate goal = Stabilize at < 133-134 lbs by June 1

"A" race is Blackwater Eagleman on June 11. I want to break 5 hrs for the first time ever in an half IM.

My penalty for failure: I have a very limited edition, size S TSR top, worn for only one race this year (when I was a svelt 136 lbs), which I will donate to any Slowtwitcher that meets his or her goal and fits the top. Now, I call that putting my money where my mouth is. For the record, I have the TSR shorts, but they fit and I ain't goin' to give 'em up.
