What record? Phelps has the WR or 50.22, this kid swam a 1:09.xx. I'm guessing this is some type of pool, league or meet record Phelps set when he was 9-10. It would be nice if they didn't omit the details in the article. Thanks for the clickbait.

I saw a video of his swim last night. Kid destroyed the field.

My 9 yo watched it with me and his jaw hit the ground.

Superman was also high point earner for the meet and won 7 golds. I hope too much pressure doesn't get put on him the next few years.

Since your so interested in making sure things are accurate. Phelps WR in the 100 meter butterfly is 49.82 not 50.22.

When I read the thread title and before I went to the website I thought you meant the World record, without specifics I can see many people doing that.

Yup, same thing happens with the women's races at some of the bigger marathons. Publication will put out a headline saying that ex. Shalane Flanagan won the New York Marathon. Definitely gets me to click into the article wondering how she beat the men's field.

Given that the NAG record for 100 lcm fly is 1:05.98 vs Kent's 1:09, I think CNN is making too big a deal over this.

We only sent 2 kids this year since most of our kids were racing Alberta Summer Games or Jr Nationals. One kid turned Summer Games down because he didn't want to race SCM. Best finish 3rd in 11-12 400 IM. Lots of clubs from all over US and Canada.

12 year old Kevin Zhang from Etobicoke dropped a 2:16 200 Fly at this meet.


Just consider that at 12 another Etobicoke kid Ray Yang went 1:01 for 100 Fly LCM (Cdn NAG) at 12, now at 17 his pb is a respectable 55.8 while 15 year old North York's Josh Liendo swam 53.9 at Pan Pac trials and will be at Jr Pan Pacs & Youth Olympics.

Too soon to tell how good young CLARK will be.

I saw & heard the story and knew it had to be an age group record but I had to read four different articles before I found one that even said that. Definitely misleading in my book. Does Clark Kent hold the world age group record or just the record at this meet?
