I wouldn’t call that a good result against fairly weak field of climbers. He’s capable of a lot more. Cool event though, hope it picks up momentum.

I agree with that. He popped but wtf, he just finished the Giro. (both sides of my mouth now...)

Sagan looked like Cav on 'roids. He can argy bargy with the best.

Bernal?

Mas?

If they ride it right, Uran has some help.

Still like to see a Pinot Bardet blend.

Dumoulin, he’ll be in shape by the time the get to the alps. Or Yates. I doubt Bernal can win it this year, if Thomas is out, Poels is their best bet

A light-bodied blend, with a lot of grip and not very structured. Aroma of sweat with notes of tarmac, carbon and lycra. Once opened, cracks early int he 3rd week.

Yates left Dauphine sick. TD's knee seems to cast doubt--some hard miles in first week that nobody can mail in. Thomas' crash might not be that bad but he'll miss out on some race miles. Quintana has no mas. Want to root for Kruiseship but he seems a few watts short.

Pinot and Bordeaux are looking like decent bets. Fuglsang has to be liking podium chances too. Everyone should be afraid of Bernal in mountains but his complete game is an unknown; big difference coming in with pressure & target on back as a leader. This brings us to Porte, who has the ability but needs to pack a full suitcase of luck. And then the sniper--Nibali--quietly patrolling some high mountains and preparing to ambush unsuspecting prey. Or at least I hope so.

In fairness to Ineos, GT has had gravity-related issues since the Sky days.

2x this. I've gotta get back on my game. Sensations are not so good right now but there's still time to find TdF form.

we're still in Dauphine days.....go home, put your hands up, rest the keyboard....you don't want to peak too early

I'm sticking with Tommy D. Not Still Waiting for B Sample Tommy D, the other one, Tommy Dump. He's playin' possum with this knee just like he faked dysentery that one time. Worked out ok.

Are we left with Bernal vs Thomas?

That could be interesting.

I have a feeling there might be some dark horse that we are overlooking, just like at the Giro where no one even mentioned Carpaz before it started

Bernal showed why he'll be the most feared climber by lighting up the afterburners at TdS. It was a long climb but not tough like the ones in 3rd week of TdF.

With all the Heads of State getting busted up, this year's Tour is either going to be wide-open and awesome, or unbearably unwatchable

If it's the latter, let's hope Lance, JB, George & Johann can spice it up

Something else. It was just unreal to watch yesterdays Tour de Suisse stage with the best of the world racing on the same roads I've spent hours riding on myslef.

Good opportunity for Rigo Uran. Bernal looks great, but I think he's been anointed as a GT heir apparent way too early.

well the door really is open; wonder which "could be" will blow his chances now by trying to do that little bit extra
that might give them that podium spot - guess we'll never now
but who pops out and surprises
