'Extra' Watts & Speed?
This year I've decided to put some Vittoria Corsa Evo CX tires with latex tubes on my HED race wheels. This setup is replacing Michelin Pro3's and butyl tubes. I know that my new setup gives me a few extra watts, but what does this really mean? If I do a ride at 300 watts according to my powertap, would it equate to something like 305 watts with the new tires and tubes?

It just means that you have less opposing force, so for the same watts the bike will be moving more quickly. If you were doing 300 watts before, you may have been doing 25 mph, now when you put out 300 wats, you may be doing 25.05 (guess only, not a mathmatical comparison).

You don't get "more watts".. Chat is determined by your genetics and your training.

What you get is more speed for those watts. Better tires / tubes won't allow you to push more watts....your FTP will be the same. But you will be faster.
