They're going to be my tri-shoes this season, they seem as easy as my old Transitions to put on while on the bike and they're waaay more comfy. I think Rappstar uses them too.

Yup, best shoes I've found. I think they are faster and easier to get in and out of than velcro "tri" shoes.

Another yes here.

I just picked up a pair. Have not ridden in them yet, but these are the most comfortable cycling shoes I have tried on. Easy to get into and easy to adjust the fit with the Boa cam closure. I just road ride these days, but if I was racing tris, this would be my shoe as well.

Yup - I'm on my 2nd season of tris with this shoe. Also my road shoe, winter shoe, etc. GREAT shoes is you are not a Sidi person/fit.

Best cycling shoes ever. They are unbelievably comfortable. They made my Sidis feel like torture devices.

JR,

We run Michelin Pro 3's on all the assorted training and every day wheels. MissP used Vittoria EVO CX tubulars on the race wheels last year.

Specilaized has done an outstanding job with their shoe offering. The TriVent is the obvious Tri specific shoe, but I think the S-Works BG Carbon Road shoe is a nicer/better shoe even for triathlon, if it fits.

I had been a Shimano shoe guy for years, but this was the shoe that changed it up for me.

Glad to have found this post about these shoes. I am curious about the ease of entry and lacing system while in the heat of battle coming out of the T1 tent. How quickly and easily do the shoes go on when seated in the change tent? Are they "slip into" possible while top-of-shoe pedaling?
I am very familiar and comfortable with 1 and/or 2 strap reverse closures. I just want to know how this shoe's closure and tension system compares.

Clearly, for sprints, and up to 70.3's, I leave my shoes mounted and rubber-banded in position for top-of-shoe pedaling and "slip into" on the fly. Can this shoe be used in this same manner? Now, for IM's it's T1 tent time, sitting down and putting them on with a "minute" to spare for optimum adjustment. But, I just want to know what those of you who have made the purchase of these shoes think for both scenarios of races?

Opinions welcomed.

Thanks,

I was wondering what they would feel like without socks on?

Jordan, will have a better description of using these in a race, but from what I can from slipping them on/off in the house many times, these are way easier to get on/off and adjusted than most other high end road shoes in my view. Maybe not better than the single strap tri specific shoes - but the down-side of those one strap tri-specific shoes I find is that while they may go on/off fast - the fit can be loose and lousy after that!! Not so with the S-Works - you can adjust on the fly very easily with a twist of the Boa cam mechanism to fine tune the fit.

I have not had a chance to get these fully set up yet as I am also contemplating a pedal change as well and waiting to sort that out and make the switch at the same time.

To the other poster - these are very comfortable when worn with no socks - perhaps the most comfortable no-sock cycling shoe that I have ever tried on.

I've never used my S-Works on the pedals for shorter tris - I use the Specialized trivents for this (Sprints, OLY). For an IM, they go on VERY easy, turn the dial - done. Or, slip them on and just go. Ratchet the dial later when moving, etc. The newer model is a bit better as the older, silver model had a kind of "side flap" that made entry a little more difficult.

You can wrap the rubber-band around the Boa dial and attach it as you normally would to the bike. Works like a charm!

You've intrigued me--I have a narrow foot and really only use Sidi as anything else is too wide. Would the Specialized work?

Hey man, how did the bike race go today...DCing I'm sure.
Can't really help you on the fit as I've never ridden in Sidi's, they just haven't felt right whe trying them on. Spec. shoes are all I've ever worn on the road...these are the best by a LOOOONG way.

I have both BG S-Works Road shoe and Trivent. Fitting into the road shoes isnt nearly as easy for me. I much prefer keeping Trivent on pedals from T1 and slipping into them once i have got going. Never tried it with road shoes but know it would be tough getting foot inside unless standing. I find it hard to open the wires enough to just slide in without using both hands.

Bringing up an older thread instead of starting another one.

Anyone using the Lake CX330C? Boa System but dial is in the back. Not a big fan of the single strap Tri-shoes, looking for something I can use on both road and TT bike.

Tried the BG S-Works and just can't drop 300 bucks on shoes, the lakes are 1/2 the price.

Don't leave my shoes clipped on in T1 but do ride on top of them coming into T2

I've been using a pair of BG S-works for a year now, the adjustability provided by the BOA system would be hard to top in my view. Another brand use that system, Lake something, can't remember. Anyway, also used them for a half IM, no issues with them. The venting might be suboptimal, MAYBE, but that's all.

I recently went to a bike fit, and the fitter looked at my feet amongst other things. Guy told me I had "euro-feet", and that I would be better off by using euro-brands such as Sidi for comfort, fit, etc. He said that my Specialized were to wide, and more suited to american feets (I quote). A pity because I love these shoes. Maybe they will come up with several width in the future.

So anyone using the Lakes?

Also is Specialized sizing off? Just about every other shoe I have seen a 43 = US size 9, theirs says Size 10.

I've used them both. Great shoes. Both good as tri shoes, though the ratcheting takes a bit more turns than you think, so probably not the best for short course. I've actually got a comparison of the two I'm writing for the main site. But I can answer any questions in the interim. The Lakes, being real leather (kangaroo), are quite a warm shoe. Something to consider for hot days.

Agreed, super fast. I've been using them this way for the last year... been telling Specialized they need to put a tab on the back and can call it a tri shoe... of course, that would be at the expense of their actual tri shoe. Biggest benefit is the mouth falls open super-wide the instant you pull the BOA open, meaning it's unreal easy to get your foot out and onto your shoe when headed into T2.
