Does anyone know the grade average and maximum steepness of Dravus Street in Magnolia?

Not sure whether Dravus is here or not, but this is a great website for gradients...

I've looked and looked and don't see any details for Dravus.

This is a great site for Seattle and other Hills

www.bicycleclimbs.com

He has set it up with Google Maps so that you can see the route.

Thanks for trying. Have you ridden up it?

I'm wondering if it's comparable to The Beast in St. Croix.

I have not ridden it. We're out in North Bend and avoid Seattle, ride a lot in the Carnation Valley and various routes up to the Pass for hills.

I've never seen Dravus data, but it is likely less than 14% from my memory (I think the Beast is like 14%- 16%). Try the Queen Anne Counterbalance (Queen Anne near Galer), it's 16% - 18%. You could always hit one of the following if you really want to suffer:
  1. East Roy Street between 25th Avenue and 26th Avenue on the east side of Capitol Hill @ 26%
  2. East Boston Street between Harvard and Broadway on the west side of Capitol Hill @ 23.8%

I lived in Magnolia several years ago and remember feeling like my car was going to flip over backwards driving up Dravus and was awed that there were little steps next to the road instead of a sidewalk.

I think I would fall over or barf or both attempting to ride a 23% grade!
