"vanity" race numbers - what would you choose?
This post from another thread:

Time for WTC to sell a franchise that markets race numbers that you get for a life time, providing you renew your yearly license fee in a timely fashion.

Ego numbers similar to California State license plates ..... like selling the Ironman Timing chip.

Special lucky numbers like 777 - or 6, 8, or 9 if you are Asian, certainly not 4, will have a surcharge.

Maybe the same company could manage the whole number and timing system franchise.

I hope when they do they incorporate age in a format like A234-55 ....... The 55 being the year of your birth and alpha characters to keep the size reasonable.

Some enterprising Ironmen might get them tattooed ..... in color.

And kits could be sold so you could mark your own number - in color.

or use LED's that glow in the dark - in color. (if you are old and slow - like me)

Later at award and athlete recognition events famous numbers could be retired for all time.

So what would you choose? Lets say limit to 4 alpha numeric characters... like "tri3" or "dork" or "slow" or such...

And for the record I have no tattoos of any kind, IM or otherwise.

:)

111 Stands for I won one. I always like that number. The local 1/2 Mary sold lifetime entires at one time and gave out permanent numbers. They gave Joe 666.

My bf had #69 and then #369 in back-to-back races. In the summer. So he had 69 burned into his shoulder/arm for the rest of the year. I was so pleased.

Bill, Ted: 69, dudes.

Never something I'd purchase, part of the fun is seeing what number you get. But if I had to choose: 2112 or 5150

maybe she's born with it, maybe it's chlorine

When I raced in Kona in 2004 my number was 999 (I liked it because it meant that I was right at the end of a bike rack row so my bike was easy to find!) and I got comments all day like "Dude, you should turn your number upside down". Maybe I looked evil.

Come on - no one wants 1406, just to take a magic marker and put a "." between the 0 and 6? Or 703?

Along the lines above - what if you were big into victory pie, or math - 314?
