"too good to be true" deal on wheels?
I was checking out some wheels for sale on a classified board (not here), and saw some 2003 Mavic Cosmic Carbones for $375, lightly used, the usual story. Sounds great, considering they're $1500 plus now. Of course, maybe they were crashed, or stolen, or something else. Aside from the obvious questions, what would you ask to find out what the deal REALLY might be w/ these?

I'd first answer this: "where were they posted"? ;-)

I know e-bay has its share of sketchy stuff, and craigslist is supposedly a good spot to dump stolen stuff, but no idea how RBR rates... In the end, its a faceless transaction, and anything can be suspect.

Can I pay and pick them up in person? That usually filters out the scammers.
