I am sure this board has a lot of experience with "high" hamstring pulls/tightness..any advice? I can bike and maybe run once it becomes loose. Any stretches, remedies, etc.

Go get a gatorade propel bottle. Fill it with water and freeze it. When it is totally frozen...get it out and put it under your upper ham. Put one leg on top of the affected leg. Roll on it back and forth. It will hurt like crazy at first. When it quits hurting...that means you are working the inflammation out.

If you're in Madison, I have an exceptional Chiro that I'd see if it is an issue. He's really bailed me out a few times, with very little down time.

ART will get you started.

The example given regarding the frozen bottle will work. A better way, using a similar basic technique (but more advanced over all) is with the roller and ball from www.tptherapy.com (Trigger Point or TP Massage Ball). Check out other strings on this forum.

I had a nagging high hamstring pull aggravated by cycling (and my bike seat). A.R.T. the day before my IM saved me! No pain at all. I highly recommend it, especially before races!
