how come the insurance company did not aquire the entire bike & components once they paid you off?

I had the option to "buy back", where I pay them several hundred dollars and to keep my crashed stuff. Which probably works out, considering most of the stuff was undamaged and I got to re-use some of it (computer, pedals, bottle cages, etc) and can sell the rest (see my other post).

So, if this frame is safe to ride - why are you getting rid of it?

I think he means the bike is probably OK to ride on a trainer. I have a simlar stress mark in my Yaqui that I keep mounted on the trainer, it will never, ever, see the road again.

I don't know if it's safe to ride. It seems safe to ride to me, but that's just my opinion. I actually didn't know what to do with it, but I figured someone might find use for it (put it on a trainer, use it as a flower holder, i dunno)
The insurance company paid to replace my bike, so I replaced it :) And I already have a spare road bike, so I have no need for it.

Sent you a pm, is that a crack in the fork? Would it hold you up on a trainer?
