The core of the is wheelset is ZIPP's traditional flanged 95/220 hubset, utilizing our radical SHIFT technology to create the strongest hubshells possible at the lowest possible weight, as well as ZIPP's proprietary ultra-precision Swiss bearing system which can save as much as 1 watt when compared to traditional cup an cone bearings . Laced 2x/2x into the chronograph precise hubset are DT Aerolite spokes, combining the light weight of a 14/16 gauge spoke with the aerodynamics of a 16 gauge ovalized spoke, the Aerolite is setting the new standard for weight and strength. The 2x/2x lacing provides excellent lateral and torsional stiffness, while building a more comfortable wheelset than the Zipp traditional radial lacing pattern. The rim is a Zipp exclusive, precision extruded, rolled and welded into a perfect hoop by our technological partner in Switzerland (we hope there is no need to point out the manufacturing prowess of the Swiss), with perfectly machined brake surfaces and a proprietary brake wear indicator system machined right into the brake track sidewalls, these are possibly the finest aluminum rims ever manufactured. Add to this single wall eyelets which save 25 grams over traditional eyelets, while eliminating stress fractures and spoke creaking that are so common on aluminum rims without eyelets. Ultimately we have created a durable wheelset that can handle the 20,000+ miles per year training and early season racing schedules of any of the dedicated CSC professionals who had input in its design, but at a weight similar to popular 'boutique' aluminum wheels.
