Unbelievable...the coverage gets worse every year. Did you happen to see the CBS coverage of the Xterra World Championship? It was FANTASTIC...they had cameras everywhere and did a great job of actually following the race. They showed some interesting AG folks, but didn't turn it into a soap opera - and at the end, they showed all of the AG winners finishing...a great touch. I hope NBC was watching and taking notes on how it should be done.

And what happened to the tradition of mentioning the name of the 1st guy out of the water? I think he almost broke the record, but I don't remember the NBC coverage even mentioning his name!

No doubt...Jan Sibbersen missed the swim course record by 6 sec and didn't even get a mention. Not only that, but Faris Al-Sultan went balls-out solo on the bike and lead for about half the ride. Didn't even mention his name.

Well, just look at the categories the broadcast was nominated in.

Outstanding Edited Sports Special (They certainly did a lot of editing)

Outstanding Camerawork; (I guess they held the camera steady)

Outstanding Short Feature (definitely short, if you count only the seconds they showed of the race) and

Outstanding Open/Tease (wasn't the whole show a tease?)

Swimming Workout of the Day:

Favourite Swim Sets:

2020 National Masters Champion - M50-54 - 50m Butterfly

I actually like the coverage. Could they have showed more of the race, absolutely. Could it have been longer, sure. But, they only have a certain amount of time and I think they did a great job with that. This is NBC, after all, not OLN.
