I have to waste an inordinate amount of time with graduation functions, just as the weather is turning and I'd rather be working on the garden, cleaning up the yard, mountain biking, etc.

Same story every year.

Broad Street Run is Sunday, so I'm going to the Expo today

I'm not running, just Trick or Treating

I'll stop at Reading Terminal, of course

Hockey game tonight.

Tomorrow I’m going to go look at stone to replace my kitchen counters. The Preds Foundation has an auction every game, but they have the really good auctions at the two big galas they have each year. At the March gala, I won the auction for up to $10,000 of stone and labor from one of the local companies. I have hated the granite in my kitchen since the day I moved in, so this is a perfect chance to get something I like. And I didn’t have to pay anywhere close to $10,000.

Sunday I think we are going to the AAA baseball game, unless it’s raining.

I will probably have some tacos sometime during the weekend. And on the Star Wars front, my VR exercise has three Star Wars workouts that are available this week only so I will be doing those again. The three workouts are only available this week since licensing the Star Wars music is a bit pricey.

I'm jealous, minor league games are the best.

We've got an independent league team just over an hour away, will definately be making time to catch a game or two this summer.

Well, my plan was to go see my nieces graduate from college, but I found out that graduation is on a Tuesday morning and not Saturday. Who has a graduation on a Tuesday morning, IU-Columbus, that's who.

Anyway, I'll be working on the current house, getting it ready to sale. We should be in our new house in about 3-4 weeks.

I’m waiting for the doctor to listen to my son’s possible asthmatic cough (questionable) and I’m singing “deedle dee dee dee dee deedle” to the tune of the Disney classic Robin Hood theme song (just saw a bit in the waiting room). I’m singing it wrong, and it’s making my son bananas. lol

Camping in Lake District at a site on Ullswater - the plan is to get there and paddleboard tomorrow - hike on Sunday - Helvellyn and Striding Edge - paddleboard on Monday morning then come home. Activities dependant on the weather, which is not forecast to be great unfortunately.

Presently… listening to desert rock, cleaning up in the barn, sipping on a Two Hearted and hanging with my herd.

Worth a notable mention.

I stopped in at a weekend birthday party for a neighbor. Glad I went. Birthday speeches were amazing and touching from family and friends. Wife is actually the closer friend, I'm more the +1.

Roy turned 100 yesterday. Has all his faculties, lives independently, still drives, and more. Ex-Marine that saw action in the Pacific, full career at the Dept of Interior / USGS, and has a mountain in Antarctica named after him. Closest guest was the immediate neighbor. Furthest guest was a guy who flew in from Sweden -- and knew Roy and family when he was a HS exchange student as a teen decades ago.

Just amazing guy, all around!

Nice! He sounds a lot like slowman and Monty’s Neighbor Bob (RIP). The womens always liked to invite him to dinner when we were there. Such good stories.

Nice! Love me a red horse. What are their names?

My horse won his race today on the biggest stage-Derby Day. He’s been nominated to the Preakness in two weeks, so we’ll see if he runs there or maybe the Belmont Stakes instead. He is now a graded stakes winner (G2 - the Derby is a G1), which means his worth as a stud has just gone up. I also ended up about $300 ahead betting.

Apache (left) is a mustang mutt, sassy little gelding monkey. Roux (middle) is my girl, 22yo warmblood. My wife bought her for a song six years ago, by far the best horse she’s ever owned in 30 years of riding. She’s the only horse I ride. Scoop (right) is our quarter horse, great for beginners and a real princess. She cleans up nice.

Congratulations on the win, that’s good stuff! So you’re part owner? I don’t know how that side of the horse world works, except that my wife has explicitly prohibited me from bringing an OTTB home. We have enough unmanageable crazy in our lives without seventeen hands of batshittery in our pasture.

SoCal weekend with my youngest. His first Oly tri which was pretty cool to see. Was able to get a day of work on Friday and two days with him.

Now off to Chicago and Spokane this week. Yes … it is going to be a long one.

Fine looking crew!

I own micro shares, so the upfront cost is very low, and there are no ongoing costs. And that means micro share owners also get no say in how the horses managed or when they are sold. It’s for fun mostly. Though this guy, we actually made make some money on. The way I look at it is that for the cost of a weekend of eating and drinking, I can buy a horse or two.

Forgot to update: I made out pretty well, actually

I have to admit the experience made me want to brave the crowds and maybe pay to enter a legit road race for a change, instead of doing my own stupid events (although my bibs are WAY cooler LOL)
