Cicada double brood (suck it, windy)
Two broods of Cicadas will emerge this year, centred in Illinois. Apparently this will be the biggest emergence since 1803.

Enjoy the racket and the cleanup windy.

Crazy noisy in some parts around here in Raleigh, NC. While out riding today it took me a bit to figure out what was causing the constant loud hum. Very strange sensation

You get them this early? We don’t see them until late July.

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure that North Carolina is not in South America.

We are having a number of days of 80° and the news have been saying they are coming fast due to the heat up.

Apparently they don't overlap all that much or so I read recently. So it may be a longer emergence but not both broods at the same time?

They constantly try to escape from the darkness outside and within

I'm really disappointed that we are not getting in on the cicadarmeggedon down in central Texas. I feel left out of the carnage.

This year there is a zombie fungus infection side story that is utterly fascinating on how it affects sexual behavior of these bugs. Mind blowing really.

They really aren't that bad. There isn't much to clean up (the birds do that for you).

We had a large brood a few years ago. At first some of the kids were pretty freaked out. By the end they were adopting them as pets.
