Xantusia memories OR F.I.S.T. in Nebraska!?!

Surprised there wasn't a thread but maybe I missed it. Anyway...dang, end of an era. Anyone who attended knows what I mean. Xantusia is a cool place....not without it's challenges, but quite the little magical oasis of brains, terrains, and activities in the high desert.

I served three tours: 2008, 2012, and 2023. I got introduced to the original Retul crew, countless pro triathletes, John Cobb, Paul Swift, many superb fitters, the instructors Ian and fredly, and of course Monty, Dan and his awesome wife Tonya who made us all pottery coffee cups in 2008 that I still possess and use daily. Rode up "the hill" 3 times my first week on a borrowed 54cm I think aluminum early QR road bike that Dan insisted fit me but in truth was too small. lol.

Last time I was out there I met Eric "the new guy", and I was the one who ultimately won his crank length debate. Dude never thanked me but mentioned me in one of his articles. Yeah you're welcome. Waiting on that email. I kid, I kid. So grateful for the 12 days of my life I spent there over 3 trips, and for all the experiences INCLUDING the cold showers and cold nights in the pool house (discounted rate!!).

So man... FIST in Nebraska without Slowman? You know what I think about that? I think it will be great, probably ultimately better than the original for fulfilling the purpose of the school. Ian delivers on the curriculum end of things. Maybe slightly less magical, but who knows? I've never been to Nebraska.
