Adjusting gear for different sized people.

I may be an outlier here, but my Asics Nimbus 25 does not feel like a plush pillow at all. I read everywhere that is soft. Well it's not. But I'm putting 200 pounds on it. I have never managed to have a shoe last over 300 miles.
What shoe still feels soft if you're 75 pounds heavier than Lucy Charles?
And more general, is there anyone out there reviewing or adjusting for size? Not just shoes but also bikes, wetsuits? A bike that is very rigid for LCB can be flimsy for me. Or one that is very aero may not be at all with a larger person on it. After all, a lot of bike measurements don't change in bike size. We all have the same wheels, the same frame tube diameter, but what we put on is incredibly different.
(And not my experience obviously, but I'm sure that very light people have similar issues)
