Honeymoon Half Gravel Tri - Vancouver Island

Came across this race this past week.

I think this is the first time this event is being held and it looks spectacular.

I've visited this area twice and it will be a stunning, but very hard course.
Add 2 hours to your regular half iron time...

If I wasn't committed to be on the other side of the country at the time I would sign up.

I have an idea of where the bike course might go and I'd be surprised if it didn't have at least 1500m of climbing.

That looks very cool!

If anyone is looking for a gravel half we do offer one in Michigan as well (http://www.thedirtymitten.com)... we've been told it's one of, if not the toughest half in the country. Bike course isn't quite 1500m, but around 4k in 52 miles and change. Plus, if you win you get a sweet wrestling belt award :). Can't compete with those mountain views though... that looks amazing!

Ive signed up. Was going to try and recce the bike course over Christmas but the weather didn't cooperate. Should be fun.

I did a gravel race out there a couple yrs ago. Ended up getting surgery on a fractured clavicle. Hope for a better result this time.

Having done the race John puts on, I will say it's really awesome! Tough, but a very interesting course that takes you through the beauty in that area of Michigan that really is special. No mountains, but some other treats...... No PR course, but one you'll talk about for a long time.....
