Sounds like you have raced in recent years (with 70.3 mixed into the full for BCN) - here is how M40 Top10 looked for BCN in 2014.
Not even a Sub9 result got you KQ (I know, as I was there hehe).

I edited my post where I said I would not have qualified in Barcelona M40. I would actually have gotten 6th place in M40 and the last M40 qualifier was number 8 so I would have qualified. It was actually more difficult to qualify in M45.

The Barcelona 2022 race was a bit windy so that probably impacted the bike times. It was also hot on the run. Only 5 AG men made it under 9 hours. The course may have been different in 2014 as well. 2022 had a lot of switchbacks and narrow out and back sections. Total elevation was over 8-900m.
