Qualifying for the 2024 IRONMAN World Championships

In the IM 2024 calendar/series thread mentioned the 'validation' issue, for those previous winners, winner 70.3 and previous years #2 and #3 (podia) athletes.
IM have just (at last) published the 2024 requirement:
https://cdn1.sportngin.com/...ation_Validation.pdf
Edited:
"“Validation Race” means racing competitively (as determined by IRONMAN [so no Rinny chips]) and finishing at least one IRONMAN (excluding 2023 IMWC) OR (2) Qualifying IRONMAN 70.3 (excluding the 2023 IM70.3 WC) events during the 2024 IRONMAN Qualifying Year. (till 19 Aug 2024 (IM) and period ending 30 Jun 2024, for 70.3s).
"Athletes who are:
  • former Pro Athlete IRONMAN® World Champions using the Five-Year Exemption
  • using the 2023 Podium Exemption as on podium in 2023
  • using the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion Exemption
will be required to validate their entry by completing a Validation Race."

This opens the chance for Iden, Knibb and Blummenfelt to avoid racing an IM next year pre-Olympics but slip in a couple of 'easy' 70.3s. And for athletes who want to race Roth rather than an IM in the summer to validate with a couple of 70.3s.
