I know it's WC or whatsoever, but I much more enjoy watching those ad-hoc organised beer miles like last time with Joe Skipper. Looks like way more fun!

The announcers mentioned that when he set the record, his running time was 3:58. That's just insane. I cannot imagine what that last lap must have felt like. That pace with four beers in your stomach? It's a unique combination of talents, that's for sure.

I was out of pocket yesterday & today and was going to add this to the Perpetual Beer Mile Thread if only someone could change the name)

In other Beer Mile news, "Shelby Houlihan crushed the barrier, finishing in 5:43 with a 63-second final 400m"

https://www.beermile.com/...r-mile-world-classic

Before y'all start sharpening up the pitchforks (as they have on LetsRun.com) please note "she was not eligible for the Women's Championship Race this year as the World Classic works to develop a formal policy for athletes competing under suspension.

"However, the official beer mile rules have never required athletes to test in order to have their results ratified. For over 25 years, beermile.com has relied on video evidence alone to prove legitimacy of a beer mile result and have it marked as 'Official' in the database. Thus, Houlihan's time was world record eligible as she followed all rules outlined. Houlihan did not violate any rules regarding her ban and got pre-approvals ahead of the event by the required governing bodies."

In other words, the Beer Mile folks asked USADA and USATF if it was ok for Shelby to compete, and they said "Sure, it's just 'stunt running'"
