Cold Feet
Quote | Reply
My feet seem to be always cold, even through the warmer summer months. Have tried various types of socks and techniques but nothing seems to help. Although getting older in late-50's, I am otherwise in excellent health - training/competing in triathlons for 30+ years. Blood flow/circulation seems to be good, although at its worst, my feet do appear pink-ish almost red, and if I press down will see the skin turn white.

My primary care physician sent me for a blood test and also a test of circulation and both came back as non-conclusive - actually perfect lab results according to the doc. He is going to send me to various other specialists including a rheumatologist, but I appear to have stumped him.

Has anyone else experienced perpetual cold feet? And if so, have you been diagnosed with anything or can you offer tips or techniques or other possible solutions?

Cheers,
@Kid

This sounds like raynaud's minus the fact that it's all the time. Since it seems to be coming on later in life I don't think it would be that either.

How's your BP? One thing that got my primary to prescribe the proper meds for me was that I said my hands - and feet - got cold easily (I'd had a near-frostbite experience with my hands as a kid, so I figured that had something to do with it, for my fingers, anyway)

I regularly check my BP at home and a machine in my local pharmacy which I suspect are both quite inaccurate. Have never had any indication of BP problems while at Dr's office though so probably all good.

I use this foot warmer mat at my computer. I'm 35. I think cold feet just 'is' for some people. Definitely have appropriate conversations with your MD. I am not an MD.

I do/did, but mine were due to a rare vascular syndrome - popliteal artery entrapment syndrome. I had other symptoms besides freezing feet all the time. It might be worth trying to see a vascular surgeon to makes sure your circulation is good.
