I did it but I don’t have a gps in the 2000’s. The bike course arrive in Velden and return to Klagenfurt

Ditto, did it 2004 as my first but was before GPS. I remember it was 3 fairly straightforward climbs, each followed by 20km of 2-3% downhill which made it rocket fast.

Indeed I came off the bike 2 hours ahead of my coaches plan and ran 20mins over my straight marathon PB.

In the post assessment we established that I had failed to mention my 40 mile training loop (used to do 2/3 laps 'was a little hilly' (just measured on Garmin connect - 1400 per lap. I just assumed that physics cancelled out and so all the ups were offset the downs on a circular course. But that loop was in the UK Peak district and included Snake Pass, Winnats Pass Chunal and Chinley. For those not local, Winnats for example has 1km at 25%.

Honestly, IM training nowaday with power meters, gps and strava is a doddle ;-)

The same of the 90km lap minus the smaller lap after Rosegg: once in Velden, you turn left and go straight to Rupertiberg. In simple words, the 60km lap is the bigger lap in this picture
