1 mile swim 2.5mile swim I'll let monty speak for his own races, but mine went well. I won the wetsuit division of both races. For the 1-mile swim, I basically tied the other winner from the non-wetsuit division, because he hugged the wharf on the second half instead of taking the straight line like I did (he was also wearing a long pants tech suit, so while that is likely FINA-legal open water gear, it would not be pool legal). I probably shouldn't have run 5 mile miles before the race. Water was 61F, so cold but not unbearably so. I was glad I was in a sleeveless wetsuit.
For the 2.5mile swim, we had some delays due to a late boat and the fog. I actually had to go check out of my hotel before the race to not miss the 11am checkout time. Luckily I was able to leave my bag at the hotel during the race, and they were nice enough to let me shower when I showed up to get it back. I'll paste a picture of the planned race course below and what I actually swam, because the boat went to the wrong spot. On the way back there were actually 3 boats, and from what I hear a lot of swimmers started going to the wrong (closer) boats instead of the actual course marker. I let the 1-mile winner go on this race after 500m, as I have no way to know how well to pace myself on the edge for this long of a swim. Instead I chose go easy until the last 1k, then build, so it was a lonely day for me. Ended up 3rd overall. Water was a couple degrees colder for this one and a little more swell but nothing strong enough to make you seasick or anything (it was actually choppier in my lake swim in Boerne back in May).

Actual race course:
Here was the one mile course the day before. No marker buoys, just out and around the wharf then straight to the finish. Hugging right against the wharf meant doing extra yardage.
