Yelistratova Olympics DNS actualy due to EPO positive
Quote | Reply
Not sure if anyone caught this, but what was mentioned by the commentators as a DNS by Ukraine's Yulia Yelistratova in the women's individual event at the OG, implying a health issue was actually a positive A sample for EPO from the Euro Cup race in Dnipro, Ukraine, which she won on June 5th. World Triathlon was notified of the positive on July 24th. She still has the opportunity to request testing of the B sample, however there was no way for that to be completed prior to her individual race, hence the withdrawal...

The official results on the World Tri page indicate that she was removed from the start list due to provisional suspension. Kind of crappy how last minute it was, when that spot could have been re-allocated to another athlete, rather than a doper...

And if you didn't like that.... One of the sprinters in the women's 100m got notified of an out of competition hgh positive test from June after the prelims but before the second round (and her spot was not given to the person behind her.. It was an empty lane)

if her name was Jenny and she came from California we'd have a 10-page thread dissecting this.

instead it's just "not surprised."

I'll be curious to see how testing shakes down at these games. . .

Yeah I’m wondering about this too. It’s not like she’s new and had some random breakout race. She’s been racing since she was 15 and has done pretty well in the past. I looked at the finishing list for that race and I would have been surprised if she didn’t get first at that race there’s a bunch of never heard of athletes on there.
