Real food would be the preference. If that's more effort or time than you have a supplement will be ok. Watch the sugar content in most off the shelf products and have at it.

As a registered dietitian and masters in nutrition guy, I can tell you quite a bit of the information regarding excessive protein in this thread is not supported by the evidence.
Thank you! This was a very helpful article. I really don’t love processed food- and I think that’s what was turning me off from powders- but I think I’m going to try drinking a glass of milk after working out- which I probably could use anyway for the calcium and see how I feel.
