Escape From Alcatraz "Random Drawing"

I've entered the random drawing 3 years in a row and have always been accepted. Is there even a random drawing, or is this just a ploy to make a dying brand appear more exclusive?

I entered it twice and got in the 2nd year. The 2nd year coinciding with the price increase.

I have a feeling entries are down due to that price, so probably a lot higher odds....

I didn't get in this year. I was a little bummed as there hasn't been much racing here in the bay area CA. One of the bigger local race production companies (USA productions) cancelled all races this year about a month ago, and other small races have been cancelled as well.

Interesting. I'm Canadian so maybe that puts me in another international bracket. This one has been on my bucket list but seems to have lost it's sizzle over the years. The price increase doesn't help.

I wonder if Escape will even happen next weekend with San Francisco going back to more stringent Covid precautions? Not much time left to cancel before people start traveling.

Precautions are being made so the events can happen and we maintain some control over the situation. The only way I would see changes here is if we saw massive increases in Covid-related hospitalizations in SF which could divert ER / ICU resources. While ICU covid patients doubled last week at UCSF to 25 for example, peak was at 77 I believe in Jan/Feb. Hopefully the high vaccination rates in the city will prevent a spike like that in ER and ICU beds occupied by covid patients.
