my Di2 shifter got disconnected when adding spacers and the shifter on the front of the aerobar has to be removed to plug the cable back in, I have plugged it in and done this multiple times however this time I cannot get the shifter to stay in the tip of the extension now. It will not expand/tighten. Any advice/tips/help is much appreciated,

remove the shifter and inspect the expansion bung. Sounds like something may be incorrect there (possibly you loosened it too much last time and it's not biting when you are trying to reinstall)
